About El Junco Jazz Club

El Junco has been synonymous with culture for
almost 50 years. Jazz, Funk, Blues, and other
forms of live black music every night, followed
by sessions from some of the most respected local
and international DJs.
Founded in 1962, El Junco was originally a boite that often had live performances by Jazz and Bossa Nova groups. You can still find details from this period in its façade. Towards the end of the 60’s and beginning of the 70s, the club became a meeting point for groups that opposed the dictatorship, which in turn caused a curious phenomenon: a sort of truce between people of all ideological tendencies, only within the walls of the club. After a period of transition during the 90’s, the new management decides to recover the concept of a music club in its purest form.
Today, El Junco hosts live performances from Sunday to Friday, with Jazz jam sessions on Tuesdays, Blues jam on Sundays, and a Swing and Tap Jam every other Monday. DJ sets every night of the week until closing.
